KLOTHO

The Klotho gene, responsible for the production of the α-Klotho protein, has been unequivocally established as a significant controller of biological aging processes. This pivotal pairing works synergistically to defer aging progression and impede the onset of age-related conditions.

Key mechanisms through which α-Klotho operates as aging-inhibitor include

  • Metabolic Regulation: α-Klotho modulates phosphate, calcium, and vitamin D homeostasis, ensuring optimal bone health and cellular functionality.

  • Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Functions: By counteracting cellular damage and systemic inflammation, α-Klotho helps in averting the progression of various chronic diseases.

  • Fibrosis Prevention: α-Klotho inhibits the excessive deposition of fibrous connective tissue, preserving organ integrity and function.

  • Cardioprotection: α-Klotho offers protective measures against cardiovascular diseases, fortifying overall heart health.

  • Tumor Suppression: α-Klotho's role as a tumor suppressor aids in mitigating the risk of cancerous growths.

  • Glycemic Control: α-Klotho is involved in the regulation of blood glucose levels, assisting in the prevention of diabetes.

  • Stem Cell Preservation: α-Klotho forestalls cellular senescence and apoptosis, maintaining the vitality of stem cells and overall tissue health.

  • Neuroprotection: α-Klotho buffers against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, aiding in the preservation of cognitive abilities.

The Klotho gene and its α-Klotho protein, significantly shape our biological aging trajectory. Their involvement in an extensive array of physiological functions—from the regulation of fundamental metabolic processes to the conservation of cognitive faculties—solidifies their potency as therapeutic agents. With age, and in chronic disease conditions, the levels of the α-Klotho protein tend to decline. To counteract this, we introduce the Klotho gene via Circular DNA Vector system, leading to a long-term increase in serum α-Klotho protein levels. This strategy not only supports metabolic processes but also provides significant mitigation against the effects of aging.
